Are you looking for ways to give back to your community? Well, guess what, Giving Tuesday is right around the corner!  

You may be wondering, “what is Giving Tuesday?”.  

Giving Tuesday is a global movement that unleashes the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. Giving Tuesday is always on the first Tuesday after Black Friday, so this year it falls on December 1. With only a week left, we wanted to share some ideas of how you can get involved.  

Volunteer 

Volunteering your time is an incredible way to give back and is one of the greatest forms of altruism. Avalon can always use some helping hands!  Right now, we are looking for social, tech-savvy women who can host Zoom meetings. Individual(s) must be a member of any 12-Step Program, have to experience and be comfortable leading virtual meetings, and demonstrate strength and hope.  And the volunteer opportunities don’t end there!  Perhaps you’d like to get involved with some holiday festivities?  Contact your closest Avalon Women’s Centre to get involved TODAY! 

Donate 

Your donation can make a lasting impact on women struggling with addiction. It cost each of our centres $500 to keep the doors open – every day. How can you keep the Centre open for a day? If you’re in a position where you can help financially, please make a contribution, then invite your friends and family to help meet your goal and share with them how Avalon has impacted your life. Share Your Story 

Speaking of stories, every time someone shares their story, they spread awareness and help other women realize they aren’t alone. By telling our stories we are not only speaking up for ourselves but for those who’ve had to stay silent. If you are someone recovering from addiction and feel comfortable telling your story, it could motivate and inspire others to either seek help or support those in need.  If you would like to share your story through one of our communication platforms, please contact Pam at pam@avaloncentres.org

Spread the word on social media. You can use the #GivingTuesdayCA hashtag to be involved in the bigger conversation. By engaging with us on Social media, you’re helping Avalon be seen. The more you engage, the more impact we can make for the women of Avalon.
