Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend your meetings?
Avalon meetings are for anyone who identifies as a woman, trans-inclusive.
Although we appreciate that individuals may wish to attend as a recovery professional, to respect the anonymity of the women of Avalon, we ask that you contact the Centre Manager.
If you require a support person to attend a meeting with you, they are welcome to join as long as they are a woman.
Are there in-person meetings?
Yes! Avalon Recovery Society has resumed in-person meetings (for applicable meetings) and services. The safety of our community remains of utmost importance to us, so we are happy to offer a hybrid meeting model for those who wish to continue to join meetings from home.
For any other questions, you can contact the Centre Manager.
How do I book a meeting?
Meetings hosted virtually via Zoom/phone must be booked on our website. If you do not have access to a computer, you may call the Centre Manager to secure your spot and receive the necessary login information.
To attend an in-person meeting, you show up at the Centre at the meeting time (pre-registration is not required).
What time should I join the Zoom or phone meeting?
We encourage you to join the meeting a minimum of 5 minutes before the start time, however, the meeting is open 15 minutes before the start time, and you may join at that time.
How far in advance can I book a meeting?
You can book a meeting up to two weeks in advance.
Can I have food and beverages while in a Centre?
We are excited to announce the return of our coffee and tea service, and food may be consumed in the Centre. Thank you to everyone for working together to keep Avalon a safe place for everyone who needs it.
Is childminding available for in-person meetings?
If you require childminding while you attend a meeting at one of our centres, please call the Centre ahead of time so we can make arrangements.
Are you accepting clothing donations?
Yes! Our Clothing Closet is open! We are accepting donations (clothing, shoes, accessories) that are lightly worn at each of our Centres and women in recovery are welcome to visit the Centres for free items.
What is your pet policy?
Only certified service animals are allowed during meetings; proof of certification is required.
